Cat Door Number Plaque

This door number plaque was a special gift for a cat-loving-family.

I knew I wanted to incorporate some cats into my design so I ordered some ceramic cats from @annecardwellmosaicart and played around with their positions to make the most of the limited space on the plate.

It was nerve-racking cutting the beautiful ceramics but once I was happy with their positioning I began sticking them down and filling in the gaps with mosaic flowers. Next came my favourite black grout to make the colours pop!

New Door Number

Back in the Autumn we decided to give our front porchway a bit of a tidy-up, so we repainted the masonry and changed the colour of our front door. After taking down the door number that I hand-painted about 20 years ago, I noticed the paint was peeling and would need to be completely redone, so I decided to make a new one and his time it was going to be a mosaic.

I’ve used a frost-proof pottery plate and external grade grout so I think this will last for many years to come
